About Me

My nursing journey began long before I entered a classroom or clinical setting. As a military spouse and the child of a military parent, I developed a deep sense of resilience, adaptability, and commitment to community. These early experiences shaped how I serve others and grounded my belief in the impact one dedicated nurse can have on an entire community.

Over time, my professional path has spanned bedside nursing, community and public health, school health, and academic leadership. Each role strengthened my ability to advocate, educate, collaborate, and lead with both compassion and clarity. I currently serve as Director of Clinical Placement and Assistant Professor of Nursing at Mount Saint Mary’s University, where I support student success, build clinical partnerships, and contribute to the preparation of future nurses.

My passion for school health and public health fields, rooted in prevention, equity, and relationships, led me to pursue my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. My DNP project, “Becoming the Professional School Nurse: Learn, Lead, and Level Up,” is a leadership-focused learning series designed to strengthen school nurses’ confidence, role clarity, and public health practice. The project includes program evaluation measures to assess growth in leadership skills, decision-making, and preparedness for real-world school health challenges.

This work reflects key elements of the DNP Essentials, including practice scholarship, systems leadership, interprofessional collaboration, and population health. It represents my commitment to strengthening school nursing practice and advancing equitable health outcomes for students and communities.

At my core, I believe leadership is not defined by a title, but by how we show up for others. Whether teaching, mentoring, or advocating, my goal is to create spaces where nurses feel supported, empowered, and prepared to lead.
